Guardianship
Representation with Care and Concern for Your Relative's Best Interest
The process of determining guardianship can be stressful and exhaustive. Attorney Susan E. Durré can help you understand your options and guide you through this difficult process.
The court will decide if less restrictive alternatives to guardianship are appropriate. If not, the court will determine whether there should be a limited guardianship in which the ward retains some specific rights or a plenary guardianship in which the ward is unable to exercise rights. This will be followed by a court hearing, which could give full or partial rights to either party involved. If a guardian is appointed, he or she will have statutory obligations to meet, as well as the needs of the ward.
